A simple machinist trick that often comes in handy

How to get a perfect fit when replicating an existing accurate recessed component - eg. tool post mount, bearing recess etc.

This method is particularly effective on small to medium sized work where the error factor is greater and it is harder to get an accurate internal measurement.
