Social media is a way to keep in touch with our favourite famous figures, and the Royal Family are using Twitter, Instagram and Facebook now more than ever to keep in touch with the public. The way the royals use social media is unique, and they have amassed a social media following of more than 7.1million on Twitter and more than a staggering 26.5million on Instagram. Now more than ever we can see what members of the Royal Family are up to on royal engagements, as well as insights into their personal lives. Tinni Guha Roy, Head of Digital and Social, Ketchum London told Express.co.uk: “Fundamentally, social media platforms like Instagram give fans a chance to get a bit more access to famous people and their favourite celebs in a way that feels more authentic and honest. “However, it is worth noting that everything is carefully curated and while it provides more access (making the famous people more personable), these platforms still allow celebs to control their image.” Princess Eugenie is one of the only royals to have her own account and regularly posts pictures of her family from when she was younger to her 992,000 Instagram followers. Since Meghan and Harry split social media accounts from Kate and William they have amassed 8.7 million followers on Instagram. By far the frontrunners on social media, however, are Kate and William, who have a staggering 11 million followers across Twitter and Instagram. Their Instagram account @KensingtonRoyal gains around 200,000 to 600,000 likes per post, and Meghan and Harry’s account also gains around 200,000 to 600,000 likes per post. However, @SussexRoyal has achieved up to three million likes on pictures of newborn son Archie Harrison.
