Today am joined by the very knowable battery chemist Dr Euan McTurk. We discus what limits an electric car battery from charging at faster speeds. We discuss battery C rates and how battery cooling is the key to battery charge speeds. I also touch of State of health SOH and how its largely an educated guess, as the only truth methods of checking SOH is charging a battery to a true 100% and discharging to a TRUE 0%
I hope this video helps people understand how battery cooling limits the charge rate your get.
Cars like the renault zoe use air con to push cold air over the battery however the new Peugeot e208 has liquid cooling.
