If you are learning about online marketing or already working in the field, then you at some point you will encounter Ad Networks and Ad Exchanges and in this video I will give you a complete breakdown of the key differences between the two so that you can get a high level view of how advertisers and publishers are using these marketing technologies to transact billions of impressions daily. Now if you are a current subscriber to this channel you know that I talk a lot about digital marketing with a specific focus on social media advertising and if you will allow me a quick minute, before we jump into the video I want to connect the dots for you, specifically for those who have some experience advertising on social channels but might not be too familiar with the rest of the digital landscape.
They are all digital platforms that advertisers use to reach their audiences, but social media networks fundamentally work differently than search & display networks like YouTube and Google. For example, on Facebook when I am buying ads they are being shown to users who are actively on the Facebook platform (where it is the website or the app), but with ad networks and ad exchanges I am buying from the internet. I am buying ads on millions of different websites across the entire world.
So social media, ads within live within the platform, ad networks/ad exchanges outside of the platform from websites on the internet.
