SUMMARY:-

Submission (SUBMITTING TO ONE ANOTHER!)

Submission (SUBMITTING TO ONE ANOTHER!)

During the days of Jesus’ life on earth, he offered up prayers and petitions with
fervent cries and tears to the one who could save him from death, and he was
heard because of his reverent submission.

Hebrews 5:7 (NIV)

SUBMISSION: FREEDOM FROM THE NEED TO “HAVE IT OUR WAY;
What does submission mean? The dictionary defines submission as the action or fact
of accepting or yielding to a superior force or to the will or authority of another
person. Submitting means putting others before ourselves; it means not always doing
what we want to do! Submit comes from a military term, which means to place under
or to subordinate; with a chain of command. This is not because of weakness and
inferiority, or, because one is superior to the other; rather, this is done out of
respect. We learn to practice the discipline of submission because of our reverence to
Christ for who He is and what He has done for us! Submit to one another out of
reverence for Christ. Ephesians 5:21 (NIV)

Absolute Authority versus Delegated Authority:
1. The midwives and the mother of Moses disobeyed the order of Pharaoh so that
the life of Moses could be preserved. The Bible calls them women of faith.
2. The three friends of Daniel did not worship the golden image of King
Nebuchadnezzar. They disobeyed the order of the king, yet they submitted to the
king’s order to be thrown into the fiery furnace.
3. Daniel defied the decree in order to pray to God, yet he submitted to the king’s
command to be thrown into the den of lions.
4. Peter went contrary to the charge of those in the synagogue and preached the
gospel. He also said that it was right to obey God rather than men. Yet he submitted
to the chains and imprisonment as decreed by the religious rulers.
