How To Teach Your Fearful Pup To Recall To Someone New

Little Charlie had his first, 2-person Recall drill, and he killed it! For a nervous, fearful pup like Charlie, this can be a whole new challenge once a dog becomes accustomed to working with one primary handler. We like to introduce new people into the equation so that each dog’s Recall skills apply to whomever is giving the command.

We start out simple - Recalling back and forth as Charlie is put into a Sit or Down to complete the command. Once he has that down-pat, we then increase the challenge by handing off the long-line, and using ourselves as distraction to Recall away from.
