After a 30-hour exterior restoration on my neglected 1999 C5 Corvette, it was time to tack the engine and engine bay. This car sat outside for 8 years and the engine had never had as much as a valve cover removed after 20 years and 138,000 miles. There was dirt, grease, dead bugs, oil, and mold under the hood of this Corvette but you'd never know it after this amazing transformation. Part of the engine had to come apart for this level of clean and all the faded black plastic trim was restored by using a ceramic coating. Below is everything I used in the videos and step by step instructions so you can do this at home too. Enjoy!

1. Disconnect and remove the battery
2. Removed any engine panels and air intake if you’d like to clean below them.
3. Blow out all debris or vacuum as much as you can.
4. Cover any open connectors with plastic.
5. With a cold engine spray the entire bottle of engine degreaser over engine being mindful of electronics.
6. Let the degreaser sit for 15-20 minutes.
7. Use brushes to agitate dirt and debris and make sure to get into all crevasses of the engine.
8. Use a light mist of water to clean away large dirt deposits.
9. Use rags or microfiber towels to clean all remaining degreaser. A screwdriver wrapped in the rag can help get into tight areas.
10. Reinstall everything you removed except the engine covers and run engine until all the water has evaporated.
11. After everything is clean, use a 50/50 solution of water and rubbing alcohol and with a new microfiber clean everything again. You want to make sure it’s spotless before the ceramic coating.
12. Wrap applicator pad with the supplied cloth in the Avalon King Ceramic coating kit. Apply the coating to faded plastics and allow it to dry for 1 minute. Work in small areas instead of trying to coat everything at once. You don’t want the coating to dry for much longer than 1 minute.
13. After the minute is up, just wipe with a clean microfiber and move on to the next area.
14. Allow 12 hours of curing time before running the engine.
15. Enjoy the nicest engine compartment in the world!
