Hi everybody, I'm Emily, and I'm here with Joplin.

And Joplin I kind of hear you've started a little

side hustle since the last time we met.

You want to tell me a little bit about that?

So, I decided to do a little bit of painting

in my free time in my little apartment.

And just started posting stuff on Instagram

got a lot of good feedback and people were like

"Hey, how much can I buy this for?"

So, decided to create

a website for it.

So do you have a store or...?

Yeah, I do!

There's a whole check out process

and people can go there and buy my stuff

and take it right to them.

I think that's awesome and that touches

on what we're going to get into today.

Because you maybe didn't know that you wanted

to sell these at first. Right

But a bunch of people start reaching out

telling you, "Hey, these are really cool,

you should sell these. Right?" Yes.

Yeah, if you have a product or service that is for sale,

or something you can sell,

making your site eCommerce-friendly

is going to have huge benefits for you.

But if you're not sure if that's the step

that you need to take,

just like you where you didn't know that's what you

were going to do at first,

but once people start reaching out,

asking questions, curious about buying,

there are some tell-tale signs that maybe

starting an online store is a good idea for your idea.

So this may seem obvious

but not every physical store is going to have

an online store.

Which can be kind of a turn-off if, you know,

I don't want to put on pants today to go buy something.

It can be little frustrating and a turn-off, you know,

you spend time finding something online

and then to find out that you have to go

to the store physically to pick it up or buy it.

Total turn-off.

Plus, an online store never closes.

So, good thing to think about:

You can generate sales in your sleep

if you've got an online store because you don't have to be

physically present Exactly.

To keep the doors open. Right.

Another sign that an online store might be

a good idea for you

is if people just keep asking you

where they can buy your stuff.

I mean like Joplin here who's

selling his paintings online now.

If people have been telling you, friends and family,

asking where, asking how they can get a hold of your stuff,

what they're really saying is they want

an easier way to buy.

Right, like, I wanted to remove all the barriers of entry

to purchase the products.

I want them to be happy too.

And honestly I lost heart of dealing with all the texts

and emails as far as like,

"Hey, how do I get this?"

So, opened up the store and it made everything

so much easier.

Yeah, now you can just send people to your store.

Exactly.

So you're ready to grow.

That's another hint that you're ready to

probably build up that online store.

Yeah if your idea

is appealing to people in your neighborhood or locally,

then why wouldn't it appeal

to people all over the world,

or all over the U.S.?

And if you already have a website up and running,

chances are you're probably generating some traffic already

and adding an online store could be just the boost

that your business needs.

So if any of these ring true to you,

now's the time to bring your idea to the next level

and get that online store going.

I'm Joplin.

I'm Emily.

We'll see you next time.
