Most of this session Rinpoche led meditations on emptiness. Rinpoche explained that we are the creator of our own hell/enlightenment and this is created by the way we think. Rinpoche explained how to meditate on the I when we get angry, when the sense of I arises, this is a great opportunity to try to find the real I. In this way, you can see that liberation and samsara is in your hands, not in any other person’s hand and you have incredible freedom. Rinpoche explained that we need to practice pure morality in order to create the cause to again have a precious human rebirth, and this is what you need to be able to practice Buddhism and to be free from suffering. Now we are incredibly fortunate and have this precious opportunity to practice, so to not waste it. Rinpoche continued a meditation on emptiness, that in reality the I is not there, every second what appears back to us is the appearance of the real I, decorated with true existence. This is what we have been believing in since beginningless rebirth, what has been projected by negative imprint left by our ignorance, so this is totally false I. Then from that we create ignorance, the concept believing that it is true. Similar we believe in our real body, real aggregates, in reality the way these appear is a hallucination and we have been believing this as real and as true. All these things the way they appear, as real, are not there. Also, all the sounds that you hear, not appearing merely labeled but appearing as real one, but that is a hallucination. Also with smell, good or bad smell, what appears is that it exists as real one from its own side, not as a hallucination. Same thing any touch on your body, soft or hard, what it is, is what is merely imputed by your mind. But it appears as real, but this is a hallucination. Everything that has appearing to your 5 senses since this morning is all a hallucination, including the doer, I. From beginningless rebirths what appears to your 6 senses, everything that appears as real, is a hallucination, it is like this until you achieve enlightenment. When you achieve enlightenment, you don’t have this hallucination, it ceases, because what causes this is the imprint left on mental continuum by past ignorance. Rinpoche explained how we can do these meditations in our everyday life, when we are cooking, in a meeting, being secretary and so forth and this makes our life so useful to continually keep our mind in this awareness, this means we are constantly cutting the root of samsara. You can also recite different quotations on emptiness, instead of mantras, when you are walking, driving, so that it reminds you about emptiness. This can be veryhelpful.
