Acrylic Fantasy Pour on 24x48 featuring Copper, Pink Tourmaline and Gold with Payne's Gray

Hello Friends!

I saw my friend Dirty Artist use Pink Tourmaline and mix it with 24K Gold and it got me thinking.. what if I used that Pink/Gold mix as a basecoat? Would I get cute little Pinky Gold cells popping up? What if I had them popping up through Copper?!? This video is the experimentation of that idea..

My Colors are:
DecoArt Extreme Sheen
~Pink Tourmaline

DecoArt Americana Decor Metallics
~Silver
~24K Gold

Golden's
~Payne's Gray
~Iridescent Copper fine
~Permanent Deep Violet

Accents added off camera:
Golden's Fluid Iridescent Gold Deep

So this all started off beautifully but I quickly realized that one of my colors was too thin, and my paint was not behaving. As a result of that, I ended up tilting it a lot, and the Copper blended with the other colors more than I wanted.

I did get my little fat pinky gold cells! I love the way they look with the Copper, very psychedelic looking.

I used the pink Tourmaline and mixed it with the last of my gold, silver and a dash of Copper, and poured that as a flow extender around my pour. I also added the Violet as a Flow Extender. I used it in the intial cup but didnt like it in the straight pour.

The dried result of this painting has a softer look..its still very Metallic and blingy but the center that was blended more by tilting is more diffuse and almost has the look of a cave painting to me.. very rustic.

I definitely want to do this pour again with the correct consistency, I think all those beautiful lines in Copper and Paynes are beautiful together.

I still had fun doing this pour, getting those little fat pink cells to come up was great fun!

Uniform consistency of your paint is the most important aspect of your pour. I had everything set up and ready to go, and I added a bit too much water to one of the colors right before we started shooting, and it changed this pour drastically.
When I say I learn something new every time I pour, this is what I mean. I need to slow down and not rush what I am doing.

I hope you all enjoyed this video.. I'd like to thank Dirty Artist for the idea of mixing the Pink Tourmaline with the Gold. You can find her videos here:
