More than 600 paratroopers from Kamyshin air raid brigades seized enemy airports during large-scale exercises in the Volgograd Region in southern Russia, the Southern Military District press office reported on Thursday. "The Il-76MD military transport aircraft sent troops forward from the Engels airfield in the Saratov Region to the Ostrovskaya landing site in the Volgograd Region to seize important strategic facilities. Air forces descended with the D-10 parachute system from a height of 600 meters and with a parachute special purpose wing type Arbalet-2, "the press office said in a statement.

This maneuver involved more than 2,000 paratroopers and around 400 military hardware items, of which there were more than 100 armored vehicles, including around 30 T-72B3 tanks, 50 weapons and mortars, eight Il-76MD aircraft, four Mi- combat helicopters 8AMTSh, and a transport helicopter and four Mi-35 battleships.
