Young Women’s Leadership Academy held a celebration for being among only 4% of schools in the state to earn every Distinction Designation available for their school type from the Texas Education Agency (TEA). The distinctions were awarded by TEA for outstanding student achievement in various areas on spring 2019 test results. A special banner was unveiled during the ceremony that the school will proudly display on campus throughout the school year.
Overall, seven YISD campuses won every Distinction Designation available for their school type. Earning the maximum six distinctions for primary grades are North Star, Ramona, REL Washington, and Tierra Del Sol elementary schools.
Del Valle and Ysleta high schools – as well as the Young Women’s Leadership Academy – won the maximum seven distinctions available for secondary grades.
