Reason for lease:
During the slower summer months, Sunwing leases their 737-800's to european carriers as they don't need them however this year (2019) they leased out more B738 than usual as they received 4 737max's jets to replace them for the summer season. However due to the 737max groundings, the airline had even less 737-800's than usual forcing them to lease aircraft.
They initially leased 4-5 Eastern 767's to fill in however these older aircraft broke down quite often causing many delays, so to replace these replacements, the airline started to lease out from many different companies - here is a short compilation of a few of the airlines Sunwing leased from. It was a very interesting summer seeing Eastern 767's come often to Montreal!
Sunwing leased from Nolinor, Chrono, Hi Fly, Omni, Eastern, Privilege Style, Xtra, GetJet, First air and others (across their operations not just Montreal)
