As a result, Fr. Connole exhorts the faithful to be careful during the Advent Season and to slow down and allow God's transforming grace to indeed transform the faithful. To illustrate the point, Fr. Connole shares the following story:
A father took his son, a toddler, shopping during the Christmas holiday season. During the shopping excursion, the toddler experienced a temper tantrum and emotional meltdown, as evidenced by the toddler's crying, and crying, and crying. During the toddler's crisis the father kept repeating, "Be calm Billy, Billy be calm." A fellow shopper passing by noticed the scene and offered some moral support by going up to the father and said, "Well, it looks like little Billy needs some soothing." The father looked at the fellow shopper and said, pointing to the toddler, "He's not Billy... I AM!" :-)
In conclusion, Fr. Connole describes Advent Season as a time to embrace God's grace to slow down, take a few deep breaths, and recover our own interior wholeness, which allows a person to participate in the holiday activities, while at the same time experience the Advent Season journey in the spirit of peace, joy, and love.
