I’m Tim Durkovic, president of the Durkovic Group with Douglas Elliman Real Estate. Welcome to this installment of “Real Estate Tips for Sellers: What Are Some Quick Things You Can Do to Ensure Your Home’s Interior is Show Ready?” As one of the top agents in the area, having sold in the 100s of Millions in property - I have found these tips to be good ones to keep handy when getting ready to list your home and show it!
1. Make sure the front door closet is organized
2. Everything needs to be thoroughly vacuumed and dusted
3. Dust light fixtures and remove cobwebs
4. Make sure windows are sparkly clean
5. Clear all the mirrors
6. Curtains need to be aired or laundered
7. Dust your blinds
8. Floors need to be cleaned, washed and polished
9. Remove any excess furniture
10. Store your valuables and fragile items
11. Clean your chimney and have logs neatly stacked
12. Organize and edit bookshelves
13. Make sure toilets are clean and the lids closed
14. Sinks need to be spotless and fix and dripping faucets
15. Organize your cabinets (people WILL open them!)
16. Empty trash containers
17. Remove and store all personal items (family photos, medications, razors, etc.)
18. Tub, showers and shower curtains need to be clean!
One thing I always suggest that might make this list a bit more manageable is to have a deep cleaning crew come through and do indoor and outdoor cleaning and window right before going to market, and then all you have to do is the maintaining of it! It is well worth it and I am happy to give you some referrals!
