Barbary lion was extinct in the wild, while the Spotted hyena is fighting with another lion of Africa-the African lion. Spotted hyena is the only predator (land) capable of killing a male lion. And... can Spotted hyenas defeat a male barbary lion ? Barbary lion is about 10% bigger than African lion and much more robust and muscular. Mane of the Barbary lion is very large and long , this is a very good protection ti fight .
Spotted hyena is 5 times smaller than barbary lion, but its jaw is at least 1,5 times stronger than barbary lion. Despite of their very ugly apperence, Spotted hyenas are very smart and ....brutal.
An army of Spotted hyena is a very dangerous force and can defeat any predators in the African grass lands !
However, it will take at least 6 adult Spotted hyenas to defeat a male Barbary lion !
