Took my eyes out and put them on a manikin head! Blindfold gift exchange!

Took my eyes out and put them on a manikin head! Blindfold gift exchange! I absolutely love having fun with my blindness! This fun moment was from our family’s annual Christmas party.

Every year at our party we always do a white elephant gift exchange. To make it more fun and interesting this year, we decided to add the element of blindfolding everyone to give them a new experience. And since it was so noisy in the room, and we needed audio descriptions for what was happening for the blind guest at the party as well as for the blind individuals watching this video on my channel, we had one of my kids friends be the emcee who was speaking over a microphone.

My daughter Isabella was blindfolding each guest before they picked out a gift. When it came to my turn, as you will hear in the video in the beginning, I honestly forgot I was blind. I was wanting her to blindfold me but as soon as I said something about it, it dawned on me that I didn’t need to be blindfolded because I was already blind LOL. Isn’t that so funny? It just goes to show how well I see through my other senses and through my minds eye, I do not live in darkness even though I do not see light. However, just because I wanted to have fun with it I had her blindfold me anyways.

The rest of the video is pretty explainable. I eventually unwrapped the manikin head which was so awesome, then one of my daughters friends said something about me using the manikin head with my prosthetic eyes.

Oh my goodness, that comment was all I needed to hear to know what I should do next! Yes, that’s right, in that moment I popped out one of my eyes and put it on top of the manikins eye, then as everyone was cheering, I popped out the other one as well and placed it on the manikins other eye.

For a great photo op, I held my prosthetic eyes which are brown and realistic looking on the manikin face as I turned around for all the guests at the party to see! LOL, everyone as you can hear in the video was cracking up, loving every moment. Yes... A moment which will be remembered forever!

This is just one of the ways I find joy in the midst of my blindness. I always say if you can’t change your circumstance, you have to make the best of it! This is how I live every day of my life!
