When we bought the house we were told that the roof needed replacing within the next year or two because it was nearing the end of its life, but we realized when we checked the attic ourselves that it is actually unfortunately leaking in 3 different places so we need to replace it now. We also knew there was a cluster fly issue in the attic due to the cardboard baffles being installed incorrectly causing improper ventilation of the attic, but when Zack went up there he realized there are a LOT more than we initially thought there was. Our home inspection didn't note any leaks in the roof but we realized that there are. They aren't like POURING, but they are very moist/wet around the nails and we need to get it taken care of before it becomes a problem.
Zack noticed some mice droppings in the attic as well, which also wasn't noted on the inspection. He did not see any signs of live mice, nests or anything chewed up and said the droppings looked old (dried up, nothing fresh) so we think we are in the clear. Our plan is to move back the insulation, replace the cardboard baffles and put them in correctly to allow proper ventilation, get rid of the cluster flies and clean up all of the mice droppings and spray a rodent repellent. I think that should hopefully make sure we are in the clear in all areas and get things rockin and rollin!
Dealing with pests and rodents is just unfortunately part of living rurally, but we are up for the challenge because the joys of living in the woods is enough for us to make it all worth it. I also want to make it clear, we would NEVER poison mice or rats. Rodenticide poisoning is not something I think is okay and I dealt with it a LOT when working with wildlife in wildlife rehab. We make sure when we are dealing with food that EVERYTHING compostable is composted away from the house, all food is sealed tightly and our trash has zero food waste in it (so as not to attract animals) we think we won't have any issues, as there are zero other signs that there have been rodents in the house :) We think after taking care of the issues, a good repellent is all we should need (and tightening up and taking care of any area they could be entering)
Also, for the Weboost, once we know where our office/upload space etc will be we will move the cell booster to that area and hard wire it in so its done correctly. We did seemingly get some boosting though, hopefully once its all done correctly its boosted a ton and we will have good internet service :) we already DO have decent cell service out there so we shouldn't have an issue getting high speed internet for streaming/uploading etc.
I know this video is a bit short, this video was filmed a few days ago and we do have some new developments, and updates - SO stay tuned, subscribe and we will post an update soon!
