What is a Free Water Knockout?

A free water knockout (commonly abbreviated as FWKO) is an oil and gas production vessel that separates the produced oil emulsion into its various elements.

In this video, Mark Anderson walks through an oil and gas production site, following the pipes and explaining what each piece of equipment is.

He begins at the well head, showing the Electric Submersible Pump, then goes to the Free Water Knockout at the tank battery.
