TESLA CLUB SHINES AT LARGEST EAST COAST EV EVENT
"The adoption of electric cars has been growing at an experiential rate over recent years, and that growth was prominently on display at the recent EVs & Tea meetup, The local event, which was based in Miami, Florida, garnered national attention as a result of its larger than expected turnout." says EV Bite: " Rather than just meeting up at an empty parking lot, as is common with most EV events, the hosts provided structure and a list of activities. The event featured the ever-popular Starman as well as a scale model of the upcoming Tesla Cybertruck. In addition to these, multiple public discussions were held centered around electric vehicles and their infrastructure. Several notable EV personalities were there to answer questions and concerns from fans and skeptics alike. Tesla themselves brought a representative with a few cars and even Jaguar and Audi stopped by to show off the new I-PACEs and E-Tron."
PLANS FOR OPEL BATTERY FACTORY
"The carmaker Opel has set itself the goal of producing "the best, most efficient and most environmentally friendly battery cells" at the Kaiserslautern site. Not only an important day for Prime Minister Dreyer." says SWR.de: " Construction of the new production facility will begin in 2023 and the first section will go into operation in 2024. According to Lohscheller, up to half a million batteries for electric cars could be built in Kaiserslautern every year after the new plant was completed. The most important details about the planned battery plant in Kaiserslautern had been known since December. In addition to the plant in Kaiserslautern, there should be a second factory in France. The French battery manufacturer Saft and the Opel parent company PSA plan to invest a total of six billion euros in the two factories. The factory is funded by France, Germany and the EU with a total of 1.3 billion euros. That is why Federal Minister of Economics Altmaier traveled to Kaiserslautern. The said that the federal government would "participate with a considerable three-digit million amount". "I hope that we can specify the amount in the coming weeks.""
JAGUAR HALTS ELECTRIC SUV OVER BATTERY SHORTAGES
"Jaguar’s best-selling I-PACE electric car has a problem: it has run out of batteries." says The Times: "Jaguar is halting production of the £61,000 SUV at a factory in Graz, Austria, for a week from Monday next week because of a shortage of lithium-ion batteries. The I-Pace’s batteries are supplied by South Korean electronics giant LG Chem, which makes them at a factory in Wroclaw, Poland. Jaguar’s woes reflect car-makers’ struggles to meet surging demand for electric cars and slash emissions while relying on fragile supply chains. Jaguar sold about 18,000 I-Paces last year and it won the top prize at last year’s World Car of the Year awards. Ministers last week unveiled a ban on the sale of new petrol and diesel cars from 2035."
THESE 10 CARS LOSE THE LEAST VALUE ONE YEAR AFTER DRIVING OFF THE LOT
The Tesla Model 3 leads the ranking with a loss in value of 5.5% ($2,529) in a year. ISeeCars' study notes: "Tesla Model 3 average new car price estimated by applying used car trim distribution to pre-rebate new car prices as of February 5, 2020."
There simply aren't many of them on the used market, and there are a large number of people who want one.
