বিদেশি কূটনীতিকদের সিটি নির্বাচন পর্যবেক্ষণ নিয়ে ‘বিতর্ক’ | Dhaka City Corporation Election

ঢাকার দুই সিটি করপোরেশন নির্বাচনে বিদেশি পর্যবেক্ষক হিসেবে নির্বাচন কমিশন ইউরোপীয় ইউনিয়নসহ আরো নয়টি দেশের ৭৪ জনের নাম ঘোষণা করেছে। এদের মধ্যে বিদেশি নাগরিক ৪৬জন এবং বাংলাদেশি নাগরিক ২৮জন। এ অবস্থায় নির্বাচন কমিশনের কয়েকটি ধারা তুলে ধরে কূটনীতিকদের পর্যবেক্ষক করার বিষয়ে আপত্তি তুলেছে আওয়ামী লীগ। সাবেক নির্বাচন কমিশনার ও কূটনীতিকরা বলছেন, সিটি করপোরেশন নির্বাচন যেহেতু স্থানীয় সরকার নির্বাচন সেহেতু এ নির্বাচন বাংলাদেশে নিযুক্ত কোন রাষ্ট্রদূত পর্যবেক্ষক হতে পারবেন না। পর্যবেক্ষক হতে হলে সংশ্লিষ্ট দেশের নির্বাচনী পর্যবেক্ষণ সংস্থার অনুমতি লাগবে বলেও জানান তারা।
