Don't Self Publish If You Want to Traditionally Publish (That Book)

Don't Self Publish If You Want to Traditionally Publish (That Book) There is no such thing as a trial run for self-publishing if your intention for a book is to query and traditionally publish it! This is a horrible misconception about the intersection between self-publishing and traditional publishing. Once you self-publish a book, you throw away your opportunity to traditionally publish that (except for very very very rare cases where you sell a button of copies). Yes, I'm talking about unicorns. But it's bad business to self-publish relying on the idea of becoming a unicorn.

Self-publishing shouldn't be done half seriously. It's a legitimate publishing path that you should take seriously and do research on.
