Harvey Weinstein once apologized forual misconduct decades ago

Harvey Weinstein once apologized forual misconduct decades ago Harvey Weinstein privately apologized forual misconduct more than two decades ago, saying he sometimes is unsure “when it’s consensual,” according to a new report.  The disgraced producer, whose rape and assault trial is underway in Manhattan Supreme Court, has publicly denied all allegations of nonconsensual.  But former staffers and previously undisclosed records show he admitted 22 years ago that “he did not know when things were consensual,” according to the New York Times, which cited a 1998 settlement agreement.  In 1990, a Miramax assistant, who has not been named publicly, accused Weinstein ofual assault. Weinstein allegedly admitted to the company’s chief financial officer, John Schmidt, that he had done “something terrible” and promised, “It won’t happen again,” the outlet reported.  Eight years later, Weinstein paid settlements to two former Miramax assistants, Rowena Chiu and Zelda Perkins, to bury allegations that he’d attacked Chiu.  During the signing of the documents, Weinstein allegedly told the women, “I truly apologize for the pain I’ve caused you … Things confusing for me too. You may not believe that. Sometimes don’t know when it’s consensual. Trying to learn. Maybe I don’t recognize my power in these situations.”  The women’s lawyers made a record of the statement at the time of the settlement and recently turned the documents over to the paper, it reported.  “Harvey said 22 years ago he did not know when things were consensual,” Perkins recalled of the meeting.
