TEARING DOWN THE LIVING ROOM WALL.. WE DISCOVERED SOMETHING WEIRD..

TEARING DOWN THE LIVING ROOM WALL.. WE DISCOVERED SOMETHING WEIRD.. Hey guys! Today we got some exciting news from our contractors saying that we can start helping with the demolition on the walls (this helps them save time, and saves us money) and they said we can tear out the drywall on the walls that need to come down! THIS IS SO EXCITING! though.. we discovered something weird when we did take down the drywall and now its something we need to deal with. When you start opening up walls is when you make discoveries and we discovered piles and piles of bird seed on the beams in the walls.. which leads us to believe we have a mice problem. Super irritating. We also left a little pile of bird seed up in the wall and when we came back the next day it was scattered all over the floor, leading us to believe the mice are still here and we're not just discovering old food sources.

I JUST purchased a bunch of peppermint and deterrent products and we will be cleaning out the entire attic, spraying the deterrent everywhere, making our own peppermint deterrent pods and trying to take care of the issue with deterrent instead of k*lling them. We don't want to go down that avenue if we can avoid it, and we don't believe in using any sort of poison.

I watched a video of a guy that tests out TONS of mice traps, deterrents etc and he tested and apparently peppermint REALLY does repel mice, they would NOT cross into the barrier where the peppermint was in his video, so we bought tons of it and will be lining our entire attic and wall space with it after sealing everything with wire mesh, aluminum foil (apparently they hate that too) and making sure we are closing up any area where mice might be able to get in. We are also replacing our roof in the next week or two and that will help with the moisture issue in the attic and will also be a good way to prevent mice from entering through old deteriorated roofing material.

Other than that, we are so excited to see what this wall looks like when you can see through it! it looks AMAZING!! We also had the contractors out to see what size we can make the picture windows.
