In one of the most expensive housing markets in the nation. Sweeney Lane Apartments in Daly City provides 52 apartments for individuals and families earning up to 60 percent of the area median income -- approximately $72,000 for a five-person household. Sweeney Lane opened in 2016 as a result of a partnership that included the County of San Mateo and the Housing Authority of the County of San Mateo, among numerous other funders.
In this short video, Myrna, a Sweeney Lane resident, provides a personal look at the importance of housing that is affordable to working families. San Mateo County provided financial assistance to the project through the voter-approved 2016 Measure K half-cent sales tax extension, which provides local funds for local needs.
Sweeney Lane is located at 6800 Mission Street in Daly City and is operated by the nonprofit MidPen Housing.
