Assam is on high alert as the state gears up for the publication of the final #NRC list tomorrow. With less than 24 hours to go for the release of the citizens’ list that culminates the months of tedious Supreme Court-monitored exercise, the state police is using both its men and machines to ensure rumour mongering and any kind of law and order situation is dealt with instantly.
Meanwhile, the state government on its part has been trying to allay fears of those who fail to make the cut stating that legal aid would be provided to the needy even as it clearly mentioned that exclusion from NRC list does not amount to one being declared as a foreigner.
