Cost of compliance, regulations major issue for smaller brokers: Uttam Bagri

Uttam Bagri, Chairman of BSE Brokers' Forum (BBF), says many smaller brokers around the country are looking to shut shop because of regulatory and cost pressures. He, however, denied online broking is posing a threat to traditional brokerages. In an interview with Saloni Goel of ETMarkets.com on the sidelines of ETMarkets Global Summit, Bagri explained what would it take for smaller brokers to stay in the business. Edited excerpts.
