Should I Get A Divorce When Emotionally Disconnected | Are You REALLY Ready For A Divorce? Should I Get A Divorce When Emotionally Disconnected | Are You REALLY Ready For A Divorce?

Are you ready for a divorce? Should I get a divorce if I feel emotionally disconnected to my partner? This is a question that I was asked in a coaching session recently.

Welcome to Happily Committed. My name is Coach Adrian and I am delighted to be able to provide you with the relationship tips to determine whether this is the end of your marriage or not. The first thing that I'll say is that marriage is a very sacred thing and I don't think that divorce should be taken lightly. According to recent statistics I've read 53% of marriages in America end in divorce. Quite frankly we felt compelled to do something about this epidemic that has plagued our country and the world.

The first thing that I'll ask of you is to really detach and make sure that you are not being too emotional. Although you may feel like you are disconnected emotionally from your partner the fact is in most of the coaching sessions that I do I find people that are too emotional and not able to make rational decisions. The first thing that I want to make sure that you do is that you take care of yourself so that you are in a sound mental place in order to determine if this is truly the end of your marriage or not.

Second, it's important for you to try to reconnect with your partner. Try to listen to their feelings and without judgment, without anger. It is important for you to not take things personally and to acknowledge the situation for what it is. You guys have fallen out of love you are not emotionally connected. How does he or she feel about the relationship or marriage? Why did it get to this point? You need to be able to listen to truly understand how your partner feels because it takes two to tango and you are both working on building or rebuilding a marriage together.

Try to think back at a particular time when your partner felt unloved. What were they saying? What was missing? If you're able to really zero in and focus on what they were trying to convey to you, the odds are that you will be able to put the pieces back together to figure out what their biggest emotional needs are and what role you can play in making sure that they feel valued and appreciated in your marriage

The key to a healthy happy marriage is the ability to relate and to empathize. I talked about relating and empathizing with your significant other in all of my coaching sessions because I believe that being able to understand your partner's reality, their thoughts, their fears, their aspirations is the best way to really truly connect with them and determine if your values are aligned with theirs. If you can still continue to build a common life project together or if you've just simply outgrown each other and decided to take your lives in truly different paths.

At the end of the day your marriage is salvageable if you can make the other person feel cherished and respected even if you feel like you've fallen out of love. Realize that love has different seasons and ultimately your partner is yearning for acceptance and to feel understood and if you're able to make your partner feel respected and cherished you should not get a divorce and you should continue to work hard, to be patient to make sure that in time that emotional connection will be rebuilt. At the end of the day, divorce should truly be a last resort.

We can help you rebuild the emotional connection that you are seeking. At the end of the day, if you have done all that you could, if you find yourself being so overwhelmed and sad and disconnected from your from your significant other that you feel like you don't recognize the person that you're with and you do not want to be a part of that common life project with them, then in that case it'll be time to let go and to try to heal and to rebuild something new without them. That should be a last resort and that's why we created the Happily Committed project. If you've enjoyed this video please like it.
