Detectives drove to Bartholomew County near Columbus, Indiana, to serve James Snodgrass with charges. He admitted to detectives that he drove to the neighborhood to supposedly visit friends and wound up doing a whole lot more than that.
Playgrounds were one of the locations of choice for 64-year-old Snodgrass. Like the one at St. James School in White Oak.
Police say Snodgrass parked his SUV in the parking lot off of Hubble Road and exposed himself to children. That same day, he allegedly did it again in the parking lot of the Kohl’s on Harrison Avenue.
“He’d either pull up next to the victims or just be in the general area, and he’d be exposing himself while in the car,” said Sgt. Daniel Vath.
Vath says he targeted girls about 10 to 12 years old. They captured his vehicle on surveillance taken from Sam’s Club in Monfort Heights, which is right next to the elementary school playground. Another report came less than a mile away from someone on Robroy Drive who said a man pulled up next to a child playing outside.
Vath said, "We don’t have any reports that he touched any of the victims. None of them reported that to us. He also denied touching anyone. However, he did get out of the car on several occasions. Luckily, the juveniles we able to run away.”
The four crimes happened from late August to September 2019.
Snodgrass has a history of sex-related crimes. Indiana court records show a conviction for a prior offense in 2017 and a 15-year prison sentence during the '90s.
Green Township has four warrants for public indecency out on Snodgrass. They won't say how they tracked down him down because it's an ongoing investigation, but they did say Hamilton County's Electronics and Computer Investigation's Unit helped.
Snodgrass is still in custody in Indiana on stalking charges. No word on when he'll answer to his charges here.
