In this video, I talk about why you may be feeling weak and faint after fasting for 20 hours. I also share what you need to do to overcome this and get to that next level of fasting.

If you’re doing intermittent fasting, that’s fantastic. Intermittent fasting provides a ton of benefits that you should definitely be taking advantage of. But, if you start feeling weak while fasting or light-headed while fasting, it can make it challenging to continue.

You may make it 20 hours give or take and then you have low energy or even no energy, and you can’t make it further. This is one of the more common side effects of fasting, but there are ways to handle it.

So, what’s causing you to feel weak while fasting?

Keep in mind, the process of going from glucose metabolism to running on ketones and fatty acids takes time. The process can also take longer if you have preexisting diabetes or insulin resistance.

If you’re having a difficult time and you’re feeling weak, faint, and tired while fasting, you need to cut things back to an easier level. You haven’t given yourself time to adapt, and your body needs a little more time to get used to fasting.

You want to let how you feel dictate when you should go to the next level of intermittent fasting. Don’t move on to the next level until you’re feeling comfortable and your cravings are gone. You should also have energy and good cognitive function. If your fasting and feeling weak, give it more time, and do it more gradually.

There may be other reasons you’re feeling weak while fasting, such as:

• Low sodium - Make sure you’re taking sea salt
• You need B vitamins - B1 and electrolytes
• You need MCT oil - This gives you more ketones to run on

Some people also use my fasting tea to help in this type of situation because it has certain phytonutrients to help with blood sugars.
